Wheels of Fire - грандиознейший альбом Cream, третий и последний "прижизненный" в их дискографии. Трио ещё более отдалилось от блюза, углубившись в психоделически-прогрессивные ритмические структуры. Не последнюю роль в этом процессе сыграл продюсер Феликс Паппаларди, принявший участие в записи ещё и в качестве сессионного музыканта. Пластинка, а точнее две пластинки, почти полностью записанные в Америке, возглавили там список Billboard.
